The AMTSL procedure is a critical intervention aimed at preventing postpartum haemorrhage, a leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide. Skilled midwives play a crucial role in ensuring safe deliveries and reducing maternal mortality rates, making it imperative to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge.

UNFPA’s VR training program designed, developed and implemented by Immertive immerses midwives in a virtual environment that replicates a MLCU delivery room, complete with a virtual patient simulator and realistic scenarios.

The program guides midwives through each step of the AMTSL procedure, from administering uterotonic drugs to controlled cord traction and uterine massage. Midwives can practice these steps repeatedly in a safe and controlled virtual environment, allowing them to gain confidence and proficiency without the risk of harm to real patients.

Interactive simulations provide midwives with immediate feedback on their performance, highlighting areas for improvement and reinforcing best practices. This real-time feedback mechanism enhances the learning process, ensuring that midwives master the AMTSL procedure effectively.
