Visual assessment of blood loss is a critical skill for midwives, as it enables early detection of complications during childbirth and prompt intervention to prevent adverse outcomes. However, accurately estimating blood loss and identifying its underlying causes can be challenging, especially for less experienced healthcare providers.

Immertive’s VR training program addresses this challenge by offering interactive simulations that replicate various scenarios encountered during childbirth. Midwives are transported into virtual delivery rooms where they encounter realistic scenarios of postpartum hemorrhage caused by perineal tear, atonic uterus, and incomplete placenta.

Through these simulations, midwives learn to visually assess blood loss by observing factors such as the color, flow rate, and volume of blood. They also develop the skills to differentiate between different causes of postpartum haemorrhage based on visual cues and clinical indicators.
